ACFT Score Chart Requirements for Combat MOS

Calculate your ACFT score against rigorous combat-readiness standards and read our strategic guide.

Heavy Category Event Scale

The transition to the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) introduced a sex-neutral, age-neutral framework fundamentally tied to your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). For Soldiers in infantry, armor, and combat engineer specialties, the physical demands are significantly higher. This is colloquially referred to as the "Heavy" or "Black" category.

US Army 350 Point Physical Fitness Standard

While the absolute minimum passing score for the Army is 360 points (60 points per event), Combat MOS requirements effectively mandate a higher operational baseline. While the official "Heavy" standard of 70 points per event (420 total) was adjusted in later ACFT iterations, commanders routinely use a US Army 350 point physical fitness standard (or higher) as a benchmark for combat readiness and promotion potential.

It is critical to understand the unforgiving nature of the ACFT scoring system. Missing the 60-point floor on a single event instantly flags a profile as a failure, regardless of whether you maxed out the other five events.

Event Strategy Tables for Combat Specialties

The Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC) is notorious for depleting anaerobic capacity right before the Plank and Two-Mile Run. To maintain a "Heavy" standard, Soldiers must execute specific energy management strategies:

ACFT Event Combat MOS Target (70pts+) Strategic Execution
MDL (Deadlift) 200+ lbs Focus on form; don't burn CNS before SPT.
SDC (Sprint-Drag-Carry) < 1:45 mins Pace the drag; sprint the laterals to recover legs.
2MR (Two-Mile Run) < 18:00 mins Rely on aerobic base built during unit PT.

By targeting the Heavy category event scale, Combat Arms Soldiers ensure they exceed baseline requirements, safeguarding their careers against temporary fitness dips or stringent promotion board cutoffs.
