Frequently Asked Questions: France E-Invoicing

What is the difference between Factur-X and Peppol in France?

France’s 2026 B2B e-invoicing reform accepts two valid structured invoice formats: Factur-X, which is a hybrid PDF/XML format (the PDF is human-readable while the embedded XML carries structured data for automated processing), and Peppol BIS 3.0, which is a pure UBL 2.1 XML format used across the pan-European Peppol network. For public-sector invoices (B2G), French businesses must submit through Chorus Pro, the government’s dedicated invoicing platform. For private-sector B2B transactions, businesses can choose either format and transmit via certified Plateformes de Dématérialisation Partenaires (PDP).
